Valley Intermediate School is nestled in the hills outside the entrance of Oak Mountain State Park on Highway 33 in Pelham. Surrounded in beauty and often visited by wild turkey and deer, the school serves all 3rd, 4th and 5th graders living in the Pelham City Limits. The diversity of the students attending the school, including Hispanics and other ESL students, makes the school very special. From the beginning, teachers and staff have promoted the "community of lifelong learners" theme by involving parents and members of the community in the education of the students. Efforts are made to bring the community into the education of the students through the Business Foundation, outreach programs, and community activities that go on at the school.
